High School Educators

To support high school teachers, guidance counselors, and other educators in assisting students pursuing physics higher education, APS spearheads a number of initiatives and networks.

STEP UP is a national community of physics teachers, researchers, and professional societies. The project has designed high school physics lessons to empower teachers, create cultural change, and inspire young women to pursue physics in college.

Get the Facts Out

Get the Facts Out (GFO) explores the STEM teaching profession and its benefits. This project provides facts about teaching and how to become a teacher, including finding a certification program and learning about loan forgiveness. It also includes recruitment resources for educators seeking to reach students who may become the next generation of physicis teachers.

PhysTEC

To respond to the national physics teacher education shortage, APS, in collaboration with other teaching associations and organizations, has created the Physics Teacher Education Coalition (PhysTEC). Through PhysTEC, colleges and universities are transforming their physics teacher education programs and preparing more physics teachers.

APS’s Physics Education Statistics reports on the challenges and opportunities in the physics community, focusing on demographic information for physics degree recipients from US-based institutions.
