Through Physicists To-Go and Quantum To-Go, science professionals and educators can connect to inspire K-12 students, as well as two- and four-year college students.
Quantum To-Go matches quantum professionals with all levels of educators seeking to show their students the many career opportunities in quantum science and technology.
When you sign up as an educator or quantum professional, you will be paired for a virtual visit based on your desired topic, school level (elementary through college level), and time zone. Quantum professionals can specify the topics and grade levels they prefer to present to and educators can choose topics their students would like to hear about.
You will receive your match in March 2024, and all virtual visits will be held in April 2024 in celebration of World Quantum Day on Apr 14, 2024. Registration closes on March 11, 2024.
All educators, K-12 and at the college level, can request a visit for general science, biology, chemistry, physics, computer science, engineering, and more.
Quantum To-Go classroom visits from a quantum professional may cover the following topics:
In collaboration with Q12 Partnerships to celebrate World Quantum Day on April 14, 2024, Quantum To-Go aims to expand students' understanding of what quantum science and technology is and who it engages. Quantum To-Go's goal is to inspire students of all ages to pursue quantum science and technology careers by matching classrooms with quantum professionals. In honor of World Quantum Day, we are celebrating all April-long with these virtual classroom visits. This classroom experience with a quantum professional will provide early exposure to science and build excitement among our students to discover more.
Participating in Physics To-Go introduces your students to many opportunities they can pursue in physics. Many students only have a vague sense of what physicists do or who can be a physicist, but a background in physics can open up careers in academia, research, business, journalism, and so much more.
Scientists in our program virtually visit classrooms to share their curiosity about the natural world and their passion for science with your students. Matches are determined based your registration requests about education levels, interests, and classroom needs.
Eucators at all levels, from K-12, are eligible for classroom visits. Applications to participate in Physicists To-Go will open in the fall.
Scientists will be asked to watch a 30 minute communication training session. APS will also provide a customizable slide deck for you to use during the visit.
Physicist To-Go visits from a physicist may cover the following topics:
To show K-12 students the kinds of work physicists do, APS encourages national labs to host in-person tours for students. Give students the opportunity to take a field trip and see where many scientists work.
Middle and high school teachers seeking to expose their students to the dynamic innovations taking place at national labs may request a field trip. National labs open to arranging field trips are located at:
