Division of Fluid Dynamics 66th Annual Meeting

The APS Division of Fluid Dynamics kicked off its 66^th annual meeting Sunday, November 24 in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.

The DFD annual meeting is one of the largest Fluid Dynamics conferences in the world, with more than 2,800 attendees including undergrad and graduate students, postdoctoral researchers, university faculty, and scientists across government and industry.

The scientific program includes four award lectures and eight invited talks, as well as minisymposia, focus sessions, and more than 2,200 contributed abstracts. Some noteworthy talks include research on the physics of urination, the unexpected longevity of Jupiter's Great Red Spot, a penguin inspired propulsion system, and the secret of owls' noiseless wings. In addition to the scientific program, other special events include vendor exhibits, a student lunch, Young Investigator Workshop, Fluids Education Lunch Workshop, Résumé Help Desk, and awards for the Fluid Dynamics Prize, the François Frenkiel Award, the Andreas Acrivos Dissertation Award, and the Stanley Corrsin Award. Awards for outstanding entries to the 31^st Gallery of Fluid Motion will also be announced.

The meeting wraps up on Tuesday, November 26.

The next annual meeting of the APS Division of Fluid Dynamics will take place November 23-25, 2014 in San Francisco, California.
