DFD Fellowship Nominations

The deadline to nominate Fellows for the American Physical Society is April 1, 2020 by 5 PM EST. Please consider nominating your deserving colleagues for this honor. The guidelines for Fellowship nominations are available on the APS Fellowship Nominations website.

Fluid Dynamics Prize

The deadline for nominations for the Fluid Dynamics Prize is May 1, 2020 by 5 PM EST. This prize is awarded for outstanding contributions to fundamental fluid dynamics research. The prize shall ordinarily be awarded to one person but may be shared when all the recipients have contributed to the same achievement. This prize is awarded solely for valuable contributions made in the field of Fluid Dynamics with no restrictions placed on a candidate's citizenship or country of residence. Stanley Corrisin Award

The deadline for nominations for the Stanley Corrsin Award is May 1, 2020 by 5 PM EST. This award is intended to honor a recent achievement of especially high impact and significance, a particular discovery, or an innovation in the field. The award shall ordinarily be given to one person but may be shared when all the recipients have contributed to the same achievement. Nominations are active for three years. More information about the award and a link to submit nominations can be found on the APS Corrsin Awards webpage.

Andreas Acrivos Dissertation Award in Fluid Dynamics

The deadline for nominations for the Andreas Acrivos Dissertation Award is May 1, 2020 by 5 PM EST. This award provides recognition to exceptional young scientists who have performed original doctoral thesis work of outstanding scientific quality and achievement in the area of fluid dynamics. The annual award consists of $1,000, a certificate citing the accomplishments of the recipient, and an allowance for registration and travel to attend the annual meeting of the Division of Fluid Dynamics at which the award will be presented. Minisymposia for DFD Annual Meeting 2020

We seek nominations for up to twelve 30-minute invited presentations that emphasize major advancements in the science and technology of fluid dynamics also including presentations that attract and inspire both those in and outside specific sub-disciplines. Speakers will be asked to include in their presentation a short pedagogical overview of their topic accessible to the broader fluids science community. We encourage diversity in topics and in speakers’ backgrounds. Please use the invited speaker nomination form (Word Doc) and email it to sanna@cmu.edu prior to the March 31, 2020 deadline by 5 PM EST, using "DFD/APS Invited Lecture" in the subject line.

APS Launched a New Journal, Physical Review Fluids
The APS launched a new journal, Physical Review Fluids (PR Fluids), dedicated to fluid dynamics research. PR Fluids started receiving manuscripts on January 12, 2016.
